Inspired by the Simon and Garfunkel song that is often called the “Hymn of Resistance” – with this brand Mayuri endeavours to give a voice not just to her art but also to the those voices that are drowned within and beyond each one of us.
Each unique piece is curated and creatively assembled in a way lets a piece of clothing transform into a living breathing expression of emotion that uses the moving body as a vehicle to break the barriers created by society.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
With a love for art inherited from her mother thirty six year old Mayuri has been using an amalgamation of techniques, patterns and materials to express herself.
She previously ran her own design house which planted the seeds for Sound of Silence four years ago. For Mayuri this brand is the embodiment of restless chaos that thrives betwixt the sounds in her head and the silence in her voice. Bold fashion is an excellent vector for making a statement and by layering that with art Mayuri wants to bring to fore those very emotions that have been kept under wraps by problematic cultural constructs.
